Production must be based on little-known story of the writer
Detective Hercule Poirot , from the books of Agatha Christie , will have another adventure in theatres under the command of Kenneth Branagh . The actor and filmmaker, responsible for Death on the Nile (2022), is already preparing a third film inspired by suspense stories, according to the president of 20th Century Studios, Steve Asbell .
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter (via SlashFilm ), Asbell says:
“We have the Poirot franchise, with other [Agatha] Christie stories. I love those movies, I love Ken [Branagh]. We have a third script ready, by Michael Green, which is a pretty bold shift in tone. It takes place in post-war Venice and is an adaptation of one of the lesser known stories. So I believe you will see the mustache again.”
Branagh directed and played Poirot in Murder on the Orient Express (2017) and Death on the Nile (2022), both based on classic works by Christie.
The films follow the classic “who killed?” style, with an all-star cast that has already brought together names like Gal Gadot , Daisy Ridley , Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer .
Murder on the Orient Express is available in the Star+ Brazilian catalogue. The third film in the new franchise does not yet have an announced production date.
