We recently had the privilege of interviewing J. Fred Huther, Managing Partner, Events and Experiences at COLLECTIVE. Intending to offer extraordinary event experiences, J. Fred Huther has blended his expertise and vision and offers through COLLECTIVE. His journey as a successful entrepreneur over these years is truly commendable.

COLLECTIVE is helping brands unlock the potential of their events, empowering their experiences. As the Managing Partner of the organization, Fred has been playing a crucial role in shaping its position in the market. In this insightful interview, J. Fred Huther shares his perspective on embracing principles, and staying updated with the latest trends, and plans for the organization, while offering invaluable suggestions for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Spark Behind The Decision

We started the interview by asking, “What sparked your interest in your industry? How did you start your journey?”

He shared, “I had a very successful career as an entrepreneur and sold a successful business back in 2012. My wife has been in the hospitality industry for her whole career, and I made some strong connections in the industry through her. I jumped into a DOSM role in the event industry and never looked back.”

Embracing The Core Principles

To learn more about COLLECTIVE and the principles followed by J. Fred Huther in his organization, we asked, “What is the idea behind your company? What core missions do you value the most?”

Fred replied, “Our company COLLECTIVE is, in fact, a collective of C-level leaders in several industries including Sport, Brand Marketing, and Events. Our mission is to empower brands through the event space and in creating unique and amazing experiences for our clients.”

Adaptability Amidst Challenges

Challenges are an inevitable part of any business. So, we asked, “Can you share some of the major challenges you faced when starting your company?”

Fred shared, “We launched completely self-funded and so our biggest challenge at the very beginning was how to support a growing international footprint before we created substantial capital to support it. Luckily, our success has been fast and steady!”

Staying Ahead Of The Curve

We further asked, “How do you stay ahead in this highly competitive market?”

He shared, “All 4 of our partners have very deep relationships and strong reputations across the range of spaces that we have worked in. We reignited those relationships and began building opportunities and a significant pipeline before we even announced.”

Adopting The Emerging Trends

To ensure the sustainable growth of any business, it is crucial to stay updated with the latest trends. So, we asked, “How do you adapt to technological trends? Do you think AI can enhance the way businesses work?”

Fred responds, “As a group, we are technology savvy and always looking for ways to enhance what we do through the use of technology and often converse with industry experts to understand what is coming next.”

Future Plans We Asked J. Fred Huther

We were curious to learn about the services offered by J. Fred Huther in his company. So, we asked, “What are your future career plans and company goals?”

“As I said, most of my career has been entrepreneurial, and after several successful years as CSO of an International Event Company, I have moved back into the entrepreneurial world with this new group of partners, and we have taken off like a rocket. We intend to grow into a major force in the sport, media, and event spaces.” Fred shared.

Current Offerings

To learn more about the current projects and services offered by J. Fred Huther, we asked, “What type of services do you offer? Could you tell us more about your plans to add more services/products?”

He replied, “We are essentially an event company that has risen from the world of sport. We have a vision for growth that includes work with sports venues, brand marketing, sponsorship sales, and corporate events. We will continually look at new opportunities to meet the needs of our clients.”

Words Of Wisdom For Beginners

On an ending note, we asked, “Do you have any advice for those who are starting in this industry?”

“This is a great industry, but I think one requires long hours and a lot of work. The rewards for success are immeasurable. The community is very tight-knit and my recent attendance at IMEX in Las Vegas reminded me of the great friendships I’ve made along the way! Find a company that positively mentors the young people in their organization and that has a culture of respect for its people and the work that they do.” J. Fred concluded.
