Curious about Coffee Meets Bagel and thinking of trying this online dating platform? Here is our review of Coffee Meets Bagel where you will learn everything you need to know about the dating app to improve your user experience.

If you’ve been active on dating apps and you’re tired of getting no results, it might be time to change your approach and download a new dating app. Coffee Meets Bagel is a popular dating app that many people use to find their match.

With this article on Coffee Meets Bagel, you’ll know everything about the app.

How Does Coffee Meets Bagel Work?

Coffee Meets Bagel launched in 2012, so it’s been around for a good few years. Over these years, its user base has slowly expanded to the point where more and more people are getting super curious about it.

They wonder how Coffee Meets Bagel works!

It’s an app that helps you find… bagels?

And coffee?!

Well no.

How Does Coffee Meets Bagel Work?

Coffee Meets Bagel is unlike any other dating app you’ve ever tried. There is no swipe action and there is no search function! Coffee Meets Bagel has prepared for you your top 6 matches every day at noon. And these matches (called “Bagel” on CMB) expire after 24 hours. You get these matches based on their algorithm which uses information like education, interests, requests, etc which you are required to provide while setting up your profile. CMB does this to ensure that there is less swiping and more real mailing, chatting, and dating.

If you don’t like the matches that the algorithm picks up for you and shows you in the suggested tab, you can pass those matches and look for other profiles in the discovery lists yourself. However, discovery list profiles do not necessarily match your criteria.

Why Only 6 Members A Day?

The main reason for this is likely due to Coffee Meets Bagel’s relatively low user base compared to apps like Tinder. However, this also means that your 6 suggestions are highly curated and chosen specifically for you and your tastes. Plus, it also means you won’t have to spend all day scrolling through profiles endlessly.

And here’s the thing: Coffee Meets Bagel doesn’t want you to spend your whole day swiping mindlessly. Instead, he wants to find you high-quality matches so you can get off the app as quickly as possible and go on real dates.

Creating Your Coffee Meets Bagel Account

Signing up for Coffee Meets Bagel is super easy and shouldn’t take more than a few minutes. However, there is no desktop version. Also, you must have a Facebook account to sign up, because Coffee Meets Bagel pulls its matches from your Facebook Friends of Friends list. If you do not have a Facebook account, you will not be able to use Coffee Meets Bagel.

Creating your profile is done in a step-by-step process. You will need to create a username and password, before adding basic information to your profile such as age, height, religion, occupation, and so on.

Lastly, it can automatically capture photos from your Facebook profile (it’s up to you to decide which ones).

Getting matches In The CMB

As we said earlier, Coffee Meets Bagel is a little different from other dating apps in the sense that there is no queue of potential matches (like Tinder), and there is also no classic search function (like POF and many other dating sites ) for free users.

Instead, any potential matches are hidden in the Suggested section of your profile. Just access this section and you will see today’s daily suggestions (6 of their maximum).

These suggestions are known as “bagels” (hence the name) and if you like them and they like you, the two of you match and can start talking.

If you don’t like the look of someone, you can move on to the next one. You cannot land more than 6 matches per day though, and you must like or pass someone within 24 hours. Otherwise, they will disappear.

Sending Your First Message On CMB

One of the things we haven’t mentioned yet is that each person creates three icebreakers when they first create their account. These are just 3 fun facts about you, and they don’t show up on your profile until you match someone.

That’s right – once you’ve matched with someone, they can see your icebreakers and you can see theirs. As such, if you’re not sure what to say when it comes to starting a conversation, you can respond to their icebreaker (or they can respond to yours).

  • An icebreaker can be something as simple as “I always sing in the shower”.
  • Alternatively, you can open with your line or Like someone.
  • If no one starts a conversation within 7 days of matching, you will not be matched.

What Are CMB Beans?

You probably find it unusual that we are talking about Beans in a dating app review. But the app is called Coffee Meets Bagel, so clearly, anything goes!

The beans are actually in Coffee Meets Bagel app currency. When you credit your account with money, you earn more Beans to spend on things like the Discover feature, as well as Read Receipts (so you can see whether or not someone has read your messages).

Also, you get a handful of Beans when you first create an account, regardless of whether you are a paid subscriber or not. You also get Beans whenever you complete specific tasks like sharing the IG page or logging in each day of the week. When you sign up, you get X amount of beans – the exact amount depends on your subscription plan.

1 bean gets you nothing, by the way. If you want to rematch someone who “got away”, you need to sneeze 205 Beans!

You can also earn free beans just by using the app.

Look like? Let’s see the prices

What Coffee Meets Bagel Cost?

Don’t be confused that Coffee Meets Bagel is free. It offers expensive perks and features when you pay.

1 month – £33.99 per month

6 months – £18.50 per month

If, however, you’d rather just buy Beans now and then, here are the prices:

100 beans – £1.99

Beans 2000 – £22.99

3000 beans – £23.99

You can pay via card or PayPal, which by subscribing to Coffee Meets Bagel also gives you access to a feature that reduces the chances of you being ghosted.

How Does It Work?

It uses statistics based on other members’ login behavior and their response time to let you know if someone you’re talking to is a classic “ghost” who meets people on the app before disappearing.

The Verdict: Is Coffee Meets Bagel Worth It?

Coffee meets Bagel might be worth checking out if you’re looking for a serious relationship and not interested in flirting or casual dating. It’s worth a try if you’re looking for quality matches in the world of online dating and don’t have a lot of time to invest in this online adventure and you’re looking for quality matches in the world of online dating.
